Community Pure Water began in 2009 to create a sustainable solution to the ongoing water crisis in rural India. Investigating the scope of the need, we found that as many as two-thirds of water purification systems supplied to rural Indian villages were non-operational within two years of installation. Recognizing that the greatest obstacles to permanent relief is ongoing support and maintenance for filtration systems, our Install > Operate > Maintain model brings urgent and permanent relief from the hazards of contaminated water consumption.
We work with villages and establish long-term relationships to install, operate, and maintain reverse-osmosis filtration centers that can provide safe water whenever it is needed for as long as it is needed. Our innovative model ensures maximum impact for minimal investment, so centers are self-sustaining and reliable, year after year.
Our oldest center has been operational for over a decade and counting. We are now serving over 625,000 people across four states in India.
Community Pure Water Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public foundation.
Since our first water center in 2010, we have installed 230 water purification centers that are locally operated and maintained. We are more than halfway to our goal of reaching 1,000,000 people.
The Waterbud represents Community Pure Water’s core values.
The interlocking water droplets at the base form a cup, showing how contributors are in partnership with our villages, coming together to hold safe the precious pure water droplet.
The single water droplet is in reference to the phrase “every drop counts”, reminding us of our commitment to the villages we serve.
The symmetry and balance of the Waterbud represent Community Pure Water’s commitment to water equality.
The color choices represent water that is safe to drink (blue) and to cook with (red).
