A. Village Background

Village history traces back to antiquity. Archaeological evidence suggests that this region was inhabited by early human communities, leaving behind remnants of their existence. Pottery shards, tools, and ancient structures bear witness to the footsteps of those who tilled the land and built their lives here. During the medieval period, Village was part of the various dynasties. The Kakatiya dynasty, known for its architectural marvels and irrigation systems, held sway over this land. Yellikal’s cultural heritage flourished through vibrant festivals, folk songs, and rituals. The rhythmic beats of the dappu (a traditional drum) echoed during harvest celebrations. There are primary schools, Upper Primary School and High School and literacy rate is 47%. The streets and houses surroundings are neat and clean. Villagers attend colleges in the nearest town Kalwakurthy. There is a Health Sub-center. Transport connectivity is through public transport (Buses) and private transport (Autos).

B. Water Purification Center-WPC

Village did not have water purification center (facility) prior to installation of CPW water purification center. GP/Village provided a room to house water purification plant, raw water (Borewell or Pond) and access to electricity. CPW installed the plant and provided training to operator. CPW monitor the plant operations and provides maintenance services to plant for 10 years from the date of installation/commissioning under Install, Operate and Maintenance Agreement (IOMA).

D. Anecdote

Mr. Balaswamy, Sarpanch
Prior to establishment of Water Purification Center, residents used to drink borewell water which was not safe, and they suffered with diseases frequently. I understood this problem and thought to take initiative to establish water purification cetner. Approached CDF and they established a water purification cetner which provides purified water 24/7 at affordable cost. Now residents are accessing purified water whenever they want and saving their time and increasing their health conditions.
Mrs. Jyothi, Resident
Water Purification Center is accessible to us, and we are getting purified water whenever we want with ATW system. Earlier we sue to drink borewell water and suffered with diseases frequently. Now we are happy with water purification cetner and increasing our health conditions and minimizing health expenditure.
